Not Grandma's but has strong merrit
1 of 1 found this helpful This is not an older version of Joy of Cooking. If that is what you want then search it out and get one. I happen to own a reprint of the first Joy, "Streamlined Cooking" by same author, am hunting down a 1943 copy, have a 1950s copy, have a 1960s copy, have a 1975 copy, and now a 1997 copy. Why you ask? They all have different recipes with each "edition". They are great recipes and well worth my buying each edition. This latest (1997) is no exception. There are actually more ethnic choices in this one too. Still kitchen tested recipes. This is still a family run business writing these. Very happy with my purchase. Congrats Ethan Becker your Grandma would be proud.

Nice hardcover reprint. True reprint very well done
1 of 1 found this helpful This is a very well made hardcover reprint of the original 1896 cookbook. Really nice binding and cover boards. Good quality paper. True to original like true reprints. I knew I could not find the original book in this condition. Even if I could find an acceptable original it would have been too costly. I am very happy I got this reprint copy. For cook books from 1910-1950 I get originals. For a book of this age it was not practical. Very happy.
