I have run the NAS for 3 days now with the SSD card with two Intel OPTANE SSD P1600X Series 118GB M.2 PCIE 80MM for the read-write cache and the system works great. I found that, for 10G connectivity, you are better off using a twinax cable instead of fiber-optic. Install a dummy SFP transceiver on the second port. This is an older ARM CPU and has limitations. Its a Mac - and that's a good thing!
1 of 2 found this helpful Boots up a little slow, and most applications seem to take a little bit longer than they should to open. After the 60-day warranty expires, I will double up on the memory and see if that speeds things up a bit. Also, a little bit pricey, but Mac's do tend to hold their value longer. Overall, I am satisfied with the product for the intended purpose.
Update: Come to find out this model does not allow memory upgrades - must have been an Apple Engineer brain-fart of an idea at the time. There is a "work-around" to speeding it up though - purchase an external SSD, make it Mac bootable, download the OS onto it - then make it the primary boot drive. There is a significant increase now in the boot-up speed, as well as, all application's speed. Google how to do it if you need to speed up your MAC.
