Top of the line hot water dispenser with thermos liner.
This is the second VE hybrid I have owned and my first one lasted 8 years. This one is one liter larger (5) and has a few more features like four temp settings and an option to use the vacuum only which is essentially a thermos bottle. When the power goes out you can still pour water from the unit manually by carefully dipping it out with a cup or ladle. I know there is a model that has a battery dispense backup but I will stick with the one I have.
I only put RO water in mine and never have any issues with scale or discoloration of the lining. I would warn about using a bleach when cleaning as it is supposed to damage the Teflon liner. I don't usually even clean mine since it is RO water and I use it daily.
The heat cycle is faster than my old unit but they are made to keep a quantity of water hot 24 x 7 not boil a pot of cold water in record time. They sip energy and you will not see any increase in the electric bill due to efficiency.
There is a stainless steel liner model but it is made in China. I will stick with the Japanese models since my last one did so well.
If you have a tea or coffee ritual using a boiler to then fill a small pot I would stick with that. It is a process. But if are like me and want hot water for any reason any time of day this is your dream machine. You will not regret the extra money on the exceptional quality and build of this product.

Excellent thermos for purse
I have been using Zojirushi products for well over a decade with very good performance and excellent features. The wife has been carrying a 12 oz thermos for years and finally started to have some issues with taste which turned out to be old coffee inside the cap. I used an ultrasonic
tub to clean the cap since it did not come apart for cleaning. This new thermos has a drinking spout which completely disassembles for cleaning and at 10 oz it perfectly fits exactly one coffee mug of her favorite brew and keeps it hot all day long. The Pearl Pink is a pastel plastic coating over stainless and is not an anodizing process. Almost looks like nail polish. I do not know how long the plastic will hold up traveling in her purse but it is a really nice stash away thermos. I went ahead and bought her the larger size for cold water to match this one. I am really happy with this very well made bottle.
