Great Albums at a Great Price!!
The first time I heard of Kansas I was 13 and the song was Dust in the Wind and I thought it was lame. The only other song I heard at that time was Carry on Wayward Son. (And are the only songs that any rock radio station plays in this day and age) But I was a teenager and was looking for more rebellious music ( I am still a die hard fan of classic Heavy Metal to this day ^^/). However, Kansas is a very underrated rock and roll band. I say this because after learning to play guitar, maturing, and rediscovering the band; as well as having heard other songs that never got any airplay...I was BLOWN AWAY!! I had no idea that they were a progressive rock group! Well, now I wanted to own all of their albums because this was music at its' best!! I mean violin in rock music...that's just plain BAD ASS!!! But (here it comes...wait for it) I could not find them in any physical record store. Most record store employees had never even heard of the band at all and all they could tell me was if they had any of their cd's they would be found under the bands place holder or you can find them in their online store! UNACCEPTABLE!! All I could find was greatest hits CD's! So, armed with my determination, I turned to the internet and...voila...this box set of the bands original remastered CD's pops up!!
Not only do you get 9 of Kansas' classic albums (many with bonus tracks), you also get an expanded 2 CD version of their live album Two for the Show! The studio CD's range from 1974's Kansas through the classic Leftoverture and Point of Know Return and the aforementioned live album Two for the Show, but you also get their 80's offerings as well; Monolith and Audio-Visual, all with Steve Walsh on Vocals. The last two CD's that round out this box set are Vinyl Confessions and Drastic Measures featuring John Elefante on vocals. Now many of you might think that with a change in vocalists came a change in sound. Not true...Elefante was a perfect fit and the band didn't miss a beat! Sure, there were few if any longer (over 6 minute) songs but the quality of the bands music did not falter! The sound on these remastered CD's is excellent!! Not over compressed with too much bass response, but just perfect...never losing any of the high or low ends! This is the perfect way to own all of Kansas' albums in one purchase!! And the $60.00 price for 10 albums (total of 11 CD's) equals $6.00 per cd!! I have to say this is a much better price than the $9.99 and up for Greatest Hits CD's as well as any of the original albums if you can find them in a store!
If you are tired of the unoriginal, studio created, auto-tuned, no heart or soul pate they try to pass off as music today or If you are a just a fan of classic rock (REAL music played by REAL musicians) then look no further...you will not be disappointed! I urge all of you who read this review to purchase this, put these CD's on, and hear how great music should sound!

Thunderbirds are definitely GO!!
1 of 1 found this helpful What can I say about this 1960's TV show! Nothing bad that's for sure! I grew up with this show and used to watch it before my mom would take me to school when I was in the first grade! Yes...it is a kids TV show, but let me tell you...the stories are well written and intelligent and you can see that children's programming was not dumbed down to kids in the 60's like it is for today's kids. I still enjoy watching these because the stories are that good and they still hold up to anything that is on TV today! To be honest I consider this show to be waaaay better than many of the adult shows on TV today!!
Thunderbirds was a show that was produced by Gerry Anderson (who also created UFO, Space:1999, Captain Scarlet and others) and used puppets as the stars with voice actors providing the voices of the different characters. The premise is that they are team that provides help in drastic situations, hence their name - International Rescue. International Rescue was started by the patriarch Jeff Tracy with his five sons (Scott, Virgil, Alan, Gordon and John) who all pilot, or man, the four rescue craft: Thunderbird 1 (quick response craft), Thunderbird 2 (heavy specialized payloads and craft carried in 6 different pods), Thunderbird 3 (space rescues), Thunderbird 4 (underwater rescues - carried in Pod 4 by Thunderbird 2 to site), as well as Thunderbird 5 (orbiting space monitoring station). With these vehicles, International Rescue are able to respond to any disaster around the world.
Of course this show may not be for all people as many may be put off by the puppets and 60's special effects, but I would rather my kids watch this than the kids fare that is on cable today (they treats kids as if they are stupid and have no intelligence behind them at all and do not even try to teach kids any valuable lessons through the storytelling).
If you want a television show for kids (as well as adults) with intelligence, action and valuable lessons, then Thunderbirds is an obvious choice. The price ($30.00) is awesome for the complete series (this was put out once before in a Megaset that cost around $100.00). The digital remastering on this series is awesome!! The picture is crystal clear (of course with this means that you will notice the puppet strings easier, but really no big deal) and the sound is available in the original mono as well as Dolby 5.1 surround. I have read that some people don't like the 5.1 sound as it has new sound effects, but after switching back and forth during different scenes I noticed no change in the sound effects. If anything they are more enhanced, utilizing the 5.1 channels to effectively spread the sound throughout the listening space. There aren't many extras except for Launching the Thunderbirds and some PDF files to view. The diehard fan may want more in this area, but for the general person buying this for their kids, or even themselves, will not care too much. All in all this is an exceptional product at an exceptional price and I can't recommend it enough.
