Improperly made.
The o-ring seal is too small in size to engage the mating surface. It will get water inside it. Holding this connector against a good one, you can easily see the smaller size of the o-ring of this product. As an easy test, you can see a properly sized seal drag slightly backward if you couple the connectors together slowly. A larger seal cannot be placed instead, due to the narrow seal groove.

Fixable, but could have been better
Not very "marine" at all. Its not a brass wing nut, but a brass plated, steel wing nut. Also just regular plated steel hardware elsewhere. Not corrosion proof. The colored coating is in the electrical contact area of the connection bolt, so not going to be a good conductor. Most of these issues are fixable at extra expense for better hardware or some labor to remove coating from inappropriate areas, but should one have to fix a new product?
