Informative but from a predictably biased perspective
0 of 1 found this helpful I felt compelled to read this because a friend was ranting about "Bohemians" and big corporations and, generally, spouting doom and gloom. I find that the book provides an informative cataloging of American societal groups and corporate groups. However, the perspective is from a socialist-leaning one. I also find that the descriptions of how America is shaped and controlled by the rich and successful are ironic because the author obviously intended the book to point out the faults and dangers of such influence. Instead, the book shows how successful people and groups succeed: get a good education and surround oneself with successful people.
Also, the book implies that there's something wrong with the way America has been run and is being run and that things must change. The question is "What's so bad about what we have that we have to change?"
The bottom line seems to be that the author has made a good living from the "Who Rules America" question and he just keeps riding that horse.
This book is best for people who already think America is broken and want to blame big corporations.

34 years and a box and still works!
I'll admit that I was apprehensive about a vintage 1985 hand mixer still in the original packaging. I wondered if the battery would charge up and it would work. After following instructions and charging it fully, I found that it runs like a top!
