A terrific WW2 POW adventure.
A fascinating look into life in WW2 Italy and the true adventure of a British officer who escaped, was given shelter by the locals and returned post war to marry the woman who with her friends and family had helped him. Btw The author also wrote one of the all time greatest mountaineering stories, the epic A Short Walk In The Hindu Kush Both books are worth a read, in my case, multiple times. My local library cut them, now I have my own copies.
