HUGE upgrade from SM58
3 of 3 found this helpful I had been using an SM58 for my regular Wednesday acoustic/vocal gig. It's just me and a guitar through a PA. It sounded fine. But, one day, I saw Shirley Manson using an Audix OM-5, and I figured, "If Butch Vig and Steve Marker told Shirley to use it, it must be great."
I happened to place what I thought was a low bid on a barely used OM5, and won. From the first moment I sang into it, it has been like a whole new show. It sounds so much clearer throughout my entire range. I can hear myself better. Even the audience regulars tell me it sounds even better than before. The tone of the OM-5 is MUCH clearer than an SM58, and maybe even a little brighter in the upper mids.
This mic is a worthy investment, and I highly recommend it!
