Give it a miss

Instructions are vague and not complete, also written in text so small you need a magnifying glass to read it. Seams to be all to common with Chinese products these days, paper must be too expensive to produce a manual with decent size text. Biggest problem though, it takes batteries and has a socket for a 5 volt adapter. (adapter is not supplied but easy to get) Reason I bought it so could have it powered off an adapter so the back light could be left on so it was easier to see at night. Problem is and and it is a big one if the mains power goes off and the adapter looses power the clock does not switch to battery power, so the clock settings are lost so when the power comes back on the clock shows the wrong time. Whats the point of having batteries if they do not back up when there is a power failure.

You get what you pay for

Been using it for a couple of weeks now. It has locked up three times now, the third time requiring the power to be disconnected to reset it. Nice interface but it lacks the feature of marking what videos or shows you have watched played from network storage. Setup was cumbersome as it appeared to keep switching off and the remote was non responsive. Once set up seams to work okay except for the lockup issues. Plays everything I have thrown at it.

Great for long trains

Great addition to my layout, have five sets now which gives me a 4 meter long coal train. Couplers are an issue and have to be coupled and uncoupled by hand, but the close coupling is more realistic looking so is worth this added trouble. As stated in the documentation these cars are not happy when short shank couplers are used on the locomotive. Solved this problem by adding some lead weights to the first car, and now pull 40 cars with no issues. Without this added weight the first car would derail on even very large radius curves pulling only 8 cars. Well worth the cost, a typical quality product from Kato.
