Sony Playstation 2 slim model
Sony's Playstation, in general, has always been a system that delivers. Sony's Playstation 2 was no exception. The system debuted in 2000, and as of 2008, it is the best-selling console, and with good reason. The graphics, audio, game catalogue (especially the system's exclusive titles) have always been top-notch, with hours, if not years, of replay value. Sony released the Playstation 2 slim version in late 2004, and while there are various opinions between the original and slim consoles, the differences are few. The original, larger Playstation 2, features an internal power supply with both a power switch on the back, as well as a 'sleep mode' that can be toggled by holding the 'reset' button for a few seconds; an ejectable disk drive similar to that of a PC; a port in which an external hard drive can be inserted, and another port on the back to connect a Network Adapter, for online play in some games. The slimmer, lighter, and quieter Playstation 2 features an external power supply similar to the Nintendo Gamecube, and though there is no power switch on the back, the console still has the 'sleep mode' that can be actuated by holding the 'reset' button. The console utilizes a standard 'flip-open' disk drive similar to that of a portable CD player, which is actually better than the larger model, as it has a lower potential to scratch your disc during use. While the console lacks the space and/or port for an external hard drive (which was only useful for Final Fantasy XI), the console features a built-in Network Adapter, meaning that you only have to plug in a 56k or ethernet cable to enjoy online play. Both systems are capable of playing DVDs, both systems are capable of variable disc speed/ texture mapping, and both are backwards compatible, meaning that Playstation 1 games can be played on the Playstation 2, though you will need an original Playstation 1 memory card if you wish to save your game progress. Overall, the Playstation 2 is a system that will satisfy, regardless of the model. Both the large and slim versions work to produce the same entertainment, though each have their (few) differences. If you are curious to know more about the technical aspects of each model, Wikipedia is your answer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_2#Slimline Pick up a Playstation 2, and jump back into the action of some of the best games to ever hit the shelves. From Armored Core to Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil to Silent Hill, Final Fantasy to Xenosaga, you can't go wrong with a Playstation 2. -ray12a

Sony Playstation 1 Memory Card
As essential a component as a controller, the Sony Playstation 128 KB/ 15 "block" memory card is used to save (supported) game progress by inputting the memory card into one of the two memory card slots on the console. The contents of a memory card can be viewed/ deleted/ or copied to another memory card in the Sony Playstation's 'browser' menu. This menu is displayed when the console is booted up without a disc inserted. The Sony Playstation memory card is compatible with the backwards compatible Sony Playstation 2, though you can only save Playstation 1 files on a Playstation 1 memory card. -ray12a
