Borgeson 999020 Steering Gear

poorly thought out idea

I'm an ASE certified master technician with 44 years of experience. The pressure and return hoses are too short. They lay too close to the manifold. The heat is going to destroy them. The bracket for the power steering pump in made from a very soft material. It needs a support bracket on the fender side of the pump to keep the pump from moving forward thus getting out of alignment when the belt is tightened. The steering coupler came up inside the vehicle, I had to seal the firewall with insulating tape to prevent air and water from entering the car. The bracket they sent to support the steering column barely caught the column tube with the screw clamp. Also had to drill mounting holes as the bracket, it did not line up with the original holes. The steering is tight, the car moves a lot with the slightest movement of the steering wheel while driving at highway speeds. The steering wheel has no self return (bump steer). Which ever way you turn the steering wheel the steering wheel will not return if you let go. This vehicle drove great before installing the Borgeson system. I have not had time to diagnose the problem. Absolutely the worst installation directions I've ever seen. I had to download and print directions from another website.
