Always buy genuine GE filters

I have owned this under-the-sink filtration system for 10+ years and it has worked great. Recently I purchased a "compatible" filter and it was a disaster. It would build up too much pressure and the pipes would start to moan and groan and would have most likely resulted in serious damage had I not stopped using it. I bought this item and instantly everything worked as expected. Always buy genuine GE filters for this system.

Do not buy, does not work properly

I purchased a 3-pack of these filters to replace the GE-GXRLQR filter for my under-the-sink water filter installation. At first I thought the price was too good to be true, but it actually turns out that this is the case. Within 1 minute of the installation, the filter popped out of the holder. I tried it several times and I had to finally install it with plumbers tape to get it to stay in place. Then after flushing the filter, the supply line started making a loud groaning sound every time the faucet was turned on. This is a fundamental design flaw in this replacement filter since it seems that it builds up too much pressure since the flow rate is not the same as the original GE filter. All three filters had the same problem. Never buy this filter as a replacement for the real thing. Pay the price and buy the GE filter.
