What they say is true - these speakers 'absitively' (and literally) ROCK!!
2 of 2 found this helpful For me, listening to music, watching movies, and playing games using the combination of these Klipsch 5.1's and a very good PCI soundcard (SB X-Fi) in my PC has been as close to aural nirvana for me (ok - it also became a bigger nuisance for the wife). I've had some trepidation getting this set given feedback about its propensity for overheating and failure (see stpeteshepherd's review also). I took the leap and bought a used set and immediately invested in the cooling kit sold here at eBay. BEST PC AUDIO investment ever for me. I've owned PC speakers from Cambridge Soundworks, Creative Labs, Logitech, BenQ, Altec Lansing, Polk, Advent - NONE of these compare to the Klipsch.
I'll let the techies talk about specs - I cared more about what I actually hear so here's my layman approach to testing: Use my trusty test CD's with songs that will test the speakers' ability to handle dynamic highs and lows, mids and overall sound clarity and quality. The CD's have been around for a while and I've used them to do tests on all the speakers and sound cards I've had and still have.
Spies - Music of Espionage (all songs - this CD actually comes with a warning that it could ruin speakers if you're not careful), Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra - The Great Fantasy Adventure (themes to Conan the Barbarian and Jurassic Park, Cybergenesis), Keb' Mo' - Just like You (Just Like You), Steely Dan - Two Against Nature, Manhattan Transfer - Birdland and On the Boulevard, Los Lonely Boys - Senorita, Karl Jenkins - Adiemus and Kayama. Movies: Iron Man 2, Expendables 1, Planet Earth - From Pole to Pole.
I kept the 3 settings flat at '0.' Overall volume level was set at 40.
The result: unrivaled clarity even when the songs had bass guitars and drums 'thumping' in rhythm. - The finger snaps in Spies''Kiss Me' sounded like somebody was actually snapping fingers next to my ear. The background bass on these test songs would make the subs on my older speakers distort badly especially in portions where the bass guitar and bass drum sounds thump in rhythm. Vocal quality is equally superb. Explosions - the bomb! I can actually hear and understand clearly dialogues by Stallone, Statham, and Lundgren. Iron Man was flying by me and I could clearly hear the cackle of Mickey Rourke's nuclear whip thing. Writing about it does not compare to what I heard but I think you all get the point. Oh, I played Diablo 3 as well and had to crank the volume down to 35 so as not to incur the wrath of the Wifelem :-). It was much more immersive experience hearing all the ambient sounds more clearly without using a headset.
The cooling kit - which is essentially a fan hookup installed inside the sub - does not produce any audible background noise.
Sound quality is absolutely 5 out of 5 and outperforms all the speakers I have owned and can afford.
Klipsch miscalculated by not recognizing and addressing the heat issue which you'll also read in online forums. Fortunately for me and for those who still have a working set, there is a relatively cheap and effective solution available and a caring enthusiast here within the eBay community.

Surprising power in a small package.
Absolutely the simplest and best solution for powering up a passive home audio subwoofer and costs way less than a traditional amp board.
