Across the mains

The original capacitor across the mains burnt out with plenty of smoke and hece required a replacement. This was in a piece of test equipment. So far the new one has proved OK..

A good replacement for a failing hard disk in a desktop PC

I purchased a Seagate drive because the one it was to replace was also a Seagate and with the S.M.A.R.T. feature it warned me that the hard disk was failing. This was also evident by the slowness of accessing some items from the disk. The failing disk still allowed me to create an image which was then put onto the new drive. As the new drive is a bit larger I now have an extra drive E: to put stuff on. Quite an easy process all round.
