Pentax HD PENTAX-D FA 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6 ED DC WR Lens NEW IN BOX USA VERSION
    Sep 29, 2016
If you're having only one - this may be it
I just upgraded to the Pentax K-1 and needed a full-frame, auto-focus general use zoom lens to go with it. This lens is pretty much your only choice for under $1000. We were about to embark on a trip to Niagara Falls, so the WR was an additional enticement. In fact, I used it on both the Maid of the Mist ride and the Cave of the Winds tour. The lens, and K-1 too, performed admirably in all the spray. Put a filter (UV) on the front, though, for some additional protection - when you get out of the spray, you can remove the filter and wipe it off. Images over the entire zoom range are all quite good. Some pixel-peeping shows a bit of chromatic aberration. (I hope DXO will soon issue their lens corrections for this camera+lens combination.) There is some barrel distortion at the wide end, obvious mostly when shooting something with nice straight lines. The maximum aperture isn't all that big, but what do you expect for the price (the Pentax 24-70, f2.8 lens covers less zoom range, for $1300). And, I found that cranking the K-1 up to ISO 800 or 1600 produces nice-enough images, so you can shoot at f5.6, even under fairly low light conditions. All in all, I'm quite happy. When I need the utmost in image quality or a faster aperture, I'll put on my older non-zoom lenses. But, for general walk-about use, this lens is fine.
Microsoft Surface Pro 3 & Pro 4 Type Cover in Red #QC700005

Durability may not be so great, but it's indispensible for Surface Pro 4
This is my second Pro 4 type cover. The first one developed several very soft/squishy keys after only a few months of service - they still work, but it's hard to tell that you typed them properly. This one feels good so far, but not as good as my Surface 3 type cover. The 3 cover keys just feels more "clicky." I hope this one holds up. Also, the illuminated keys are not as bright as on my first one. Don't know what this means - a Microsoft quality control issue? I consider the type cover as absolutely necessary if you want to use the Surface Pro 4 as a real computer. The on-screen keyboard is just not as nice to use, and covers up a sizeable fraction of the screen. This keyboard and a bluetooth mouse (I like the Microsoft 3600) make this a real computer- not some cutsie tablet.

Genuine Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Type Cover Keyboard (QC7-00002) Bright Blue VG

    Necessary Addition for Surface 4
I originally had a Surface 3 and found within moments of starting to use it that a real keyboard is indispensable if you want to use it like a real computer. The Surface 4 is the same. For both, the on-screen keyboard covers way too much of the screen, covering up where you may need to type! Also, switching between alpha, numeric, and symbols is a royal pain. If you have a Surface, you NEED a keyboard. (I also recommend a bluetooth mouse - to save the USB port. I like the Microsoft 3600.) The Surface 3 keyboard works fine with a Surface 4, but the form factor for the 4 is a bit different. Since I have both units, I figured that two keyboards was also a good idea. I think Microsoft has us over a barrel, though, on the price. I do not see why this costs so much. I was reluctant to try an off-brand, though, so I sucked it up and got a refurbished unit, which looks as good-as-new. The quality and feel is very good - maybe that justifies the price. At least once, my Surface 4 seemed to "forget" that it had the keyboard attached. Removing it and re-connecting it solved that.
