Worthwhile for background and current world events
1 of 1 found this helpful I was afraid this book would be nothing but a run-down of the Last War and be an expensive history lesson that, while allowing a GM to add a lot of color and depth to the game or a player to add the same to their character(s), would be short on useful information. I was glad to see that this is not the case with Forge of War. While the book DOES have information on the Last War (including ideas for running a Last War based campaign) it also deals with the current status of each of the Five Nations (what remains of them). Unlike the Five Nations book this deals almost exclusively with international affairs, military capability, rebuilding work, and of course the general opinions on a score of war-related issues.
The most important thing I found in this book was the information on the other nations - mainly those in the Five Nations areas (Talenta, Zilargo, etc). Very useful, insightful, and finally adding color and depth to these overlooked lands.

Fantastic for fans of D&D 3.5 looking for an upgrade while keeping familiar rules.
The book is exactly what we wanted and is a great addition/update to the D&D 3.5 rules set we generally liked.
It has a LOT of options and upgrades for the core classes and races making them all very compelling and making them generally on par with the non OGL stuff from WotC that couldn't be modified or reprinted.
