Works excellent and price is reasonable
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this UPS to replace an older one. It appears these newer APC units are re-designed such that the heavy iron based transformer (internal) is not needed any more, because it is much lighter than the older models. Also, when the unit kicks in (after an AC power dropout) is is completely quiet, no noisy 120Hz rattle like the old one did. So they must have based the new design on a much higher switching frequency, allowing for small ferrite transformers instead of the heavy and noisy iron one.
It also has a good Windows app to set it up on your PC, and showing you all the important parameters under operation. The SLA battery used in it is a standard one, so if it gives up after 3 years, there is no need to buy an expensive APC battery, you can get a generic battery that is much cheaper than the APC one. Definitely a buy I can recommend.

Good drive with an enormous storage space, and excellent buy for the money
I only buy Western Digital drives, in my experience they are the most reliable HD drives. This particular one is fast and reasonably quiet, and it runs pretty cool. Of course 4TB is an obscene amount of storage space; a few years back we would never have believed that such a drive would be available to consumers while having a reasonable price tag.
I bought the drive "manufacturer refurbished" with one year warranty. But it might as well have been new; it looks new and was in a factory sealed bag, complete with desiccant pouch. Once installed, I did a full surface scan on it (took the whole night for 4TB) and it passed with flying colors. So if you look for a better price on this 4TB "black" WD drive, I recommend buying this manufacturer refurbished, it saves you at least $100.
A WORD OD CAUTION: For the 4TB to be accessible, you need to initialize the drive for "GPT" format, not MBR (the latter being common on legacy systems). If you leave it at MBR anyway, only up to 2TB is accessible on the HDD, even when making multiple partitions.
However, older PCs might not be able to handle the UEFI boot, check this in your PC's BIOS setup screen first. See also the Internet on UEFI for more details. Without UEFI capability in the BIOS, your PC won't boot when the HDD is initialized as GPT.
