Wireless Audio Adapter Hi-Fi 3D A2DP Surround Bluetooth 4.2 Receiver Transmitter
    Apr 20, 2018
A bit bulky, but sound quality is good
In general, I don't think there's a good solution of in-car bluetooth receiver. They need to be turned on separately after you start the car, and pairing may be needed. Because of the crime rate in US I have to hide the receiver in glove box, so the additional steps are only negligible if the trip is long. I used another similar receiver/adapter before, which supported bluetooth 4.1. Here's the list of my observation after trying the two: 1. This one is a little bulky. It's not really heavy though. I won't mind too much since I don't walk around with it. 2. This one doesn't have a battery so it has to be connected to the USB adapter on my car. Not a big deal either since even if it has a battery, I may need to charge it frequently anyway. 3. Audio quality of this one is slightly better, but still noticeably inferior to CD quality and direct SD card output from my dash. I do respect the effort given the small size, but for serious music listeners, you will be disappointed. Also I found that audio quality is related less to the adapter than the source device. Quality from iPhone and Pixel C pad is apparently better than that from my old Nexus 7 pad.

Excellent lightweight earphones for daily listening
I owned X10 before and this is the follow up model. They are mostly identical, with minor differences. X10's wire is thinner but surprisingly it didn't break after the past several years. The plug of X10 is bent while X11 is straight -- I consider it's a minor plus of X10 since there are tight jack sockets out there sometimes and the bend helps a little bit. Sound quality wise they are identical to me. The X11 sounds slightly harsher now but I think that's because it needs break in time. All in all I like the design since it's super light weight and the earphones gets in and out of ear canal easily thanks to the oval-shaped soft silicon caps. The tone is pretty natural to me but I won't use it for critical listening in a music studio. For daily use it's a 10/10.

DR VERITAS Electric Guitar Strings Quantum Nickel 11's Heavy VTE-11

Increased output. Interesting idea of extra strings
First of all, like a string or not is totally personal, and whether a string works for you is based on the whole sound signal chain from guitar pickups (someone may count in wood) to the cabinet. With that said DR Veritas didn't work for me. Originally I had DR Pure Blues on my Tele-style guitar, which I felt a little too restrained. It has a nice acoustic kind of character, but I wanted more harmonics. Comparing to that, the original Veritas set (string 1-3 are in nickel color) sounds bold with slightly higher output level, additional bass, and a lot more treble. The problem is pickups on my Tele are already high output, so I don't really need even more output, and the added bass and treble sounds too aggressive to my taste. DR has this interesting idea of adding Xenon 1-3 strings, which are golden. I think they are coated though I don't think DR mentioned that. The coating was not that smooth on my fingers. They sounded muted comparing to the Veritas ones but again I didn't hear the harmonics I was looking for. Veritas may be more suitable for people looking for very aggressive tones. Instead I was looking for sweet kind of tone with a lot of harmonics. Unfortunately I think the round core by DR won't work for me. I'll put on Ernie Ball Cobalt instead.
