Great way to breathe life into older 4th gen i5 machines
Great upgrade for those 4th gen i5 machines, performance on-par with 8th gen i5's! Only downfall is that it isn't W11 compatible at this point, and it is DDR3 only. But, it still does well with gaming when paired with a good video card. I installed this in my "toy" OptiPlex 7020 and it does not disappoint. Currently just has an RX550 with 4GB of GDDR5, but it does well. This pairing out performed the same machine with the GT 1030 OC noticeably. Which was surprising to me. If I could snag another VT RX 560 4GB model to put in this (best card that fits with the stock power supply), which would be a great super-budget rig.
Not all boards will support the Xeon, so do your homework. The OptiPlex does, and it's great.

Workhorse at sane costs
1 of 1 found this helpful It is hard to beat this processor for the cost. I have two machines with the R5-3600 (B450 and B550) and they do not disappoint. Both do well, one in a reclaimed SFF case and the other in a tower rig. Both run cool, within a couple degrees of each other. Both benchmark very high, top 10% of machines regardless of processor/board combo. On day to day tasks they keep up with my R5-5600X B550 machine. My 5600X spends most of the time switched off in favor of the SFF 3600, even though the graphics are vastly different (but 80fps at ultra is still good for my gaming!).
