I always wanted a Hofner
I'd been thinking about getting a Hofner for a few years now, even on holidays to the US I checked out bass shops to see if I could find a Violin style I was happy with. I thought about getting one of the current pastel shaded basses they are producing now, but when I saw this one was for sale, I had to have it!
It took a bit of saving and sacrifice, but I'm so glad it didn't sell before I got the money together for it.
It plays as beautiful as it looks. It's the first bass I've owned that's been strung with flats and it's like playing with silk. The tone is as beautiful as I'd hoped for and even though there is another leopard finish out there (only one other!) because it is hand painted, it really is unique. And the one owned by Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick has a pearl control panel rather than the black on on this. This model was the prototype, so it is no.1.
All in all, I have a one of a kind instrument that plays beautifully and has a gorgeous tone. I look forward to many decades of playing it.
