Humbucker Loaded Tele. No Hum. All Fun
1 of 1 found this helpful Love the classic Tele shape, but don't love single coil pickup noise? Your Tele has arrived!
Just pulled the trigger on this one. Got an open box deal which knocked about sixty bucks off of the current (as of this writing) 199.00 ask.
Keep an eye on that price tag because as with most Squier Affinity models, you'll probably start seeing it come down around the holidays, or when next year's models are in the pipeline.
But even at full price, this guitar is a hard to beat deal. I'm not much for checking specs before I buy. The nitty gritty details are all usually laid out in the product description anyway i.e. what kind of wood, output, neck scale blah blah blah..It's a Tele, okay? If you already know and love the shape and feel, you kind of know what you are getting into here. Maybe a bit more lightweight than a real-deal Fender Tele, but whatever.
The big selling point for me was those two sweet humbuckers and the sharp looking matching black head-stock. I've long loved the way a Tele feels from a play-ability standpoint. But the love affair usually ends when I hear that twang-y buzzy thin single coil output that most Squier Teles are
normally equipped with. what can I say? I'm a humbucker guy. I can't deal with single coils. Not the right sound for what I play. (heavier rock)
So when I saw this humbucker loaded model, I had to have her! Right out of the box all it took to get it to my liking was a quick truss rod tightening to bring the action down a bit. the intonation seems pretty spot on from the factory setup. Mine came with 9 gauge strings (light) so I'm guessing that is what this guitar is set up for. I like 10's myself, but no biggie. When it comes time to change them out I'm pretty sure it'll only take a few minor tweaks to accommodate the heavier gauge.
Okay the sound. Glorious full humbucker tone, baby! Nice and loud when you are playing it and noiseless when you aren't. No buzz, no hum. Pretty high output too. Handles loads of gain without breaking up or squawking. The Affinity line has come a long way. They've got the factory set up down to a science. I've never had any guitar come right out of the box this ready to play before. Took me all of twenty minutes to get her to my liking.
To say that this guitar is one of the best deals going for a Tele, Squier or otherwise, would be an understatement. Buy with extreme confidence!

All you really need for headphone practicing.
Great bank of sounds and tones. Very edit-able using the Line 6 interface and connecting the unit to your laptop or computer.
TIP: if you are going to use the pocket pod in front of an amplifier, you'll want to create a separate bank of usable settings for that specific application (real amplifier) because the preset sounds are very different when coming out of an actual amp. So play around with the settings while the unit is going into an amp to dial it in.
Just using headphones though the presets are solid and usable as they are.

Best Kept Secret For High Quality Low Cost LP Copy
What a great find! Way less money than an Epi set neck LP. Just needed a setu
p and some fresh strings. Plays great. It took some tweaking and a few adjustments to the bridge ,truss rod and humbucker pole screws to really bring it up to a playable level. But now its sounding and looking great.
Out of the box it will need some minor adjusting either by a guitar shop or yourself if you have a moderate level of experience setting up guitars. After that, you'll have a guitar that looks and plays like one costing three times as much as this one. Would be real easy to mod with higher quality pickups and hardware if you wanted. But even totally stock , its a great guitar.
