Best addition to my Fender Strat I've ever made.
I've had a number of pickup systems on my Strat and for my money, this DG20 from EMG is a great value. The pickups are noise free and even with full distortion are relatively well behaved. Your basic Hendrix, Stevie Ray and Clapton Strat tones are all there, but of course this is the DG 20, named after "Pink Floyd's" David Gilmour, so his tones are there too. The coolest features after the great sounding noise free pickups would be the middle tone knob that boosts bass and treble at the same time. The results are similar to you turning up the eq of your amp. It makes that much of a difference. I can relate it to if you're playing through a single 12" speaker, turning up the middle knob turns your sound into something like a half stack. It makes it a bigger sound. Not like you have to have it up all the way all the time, you don't. And what we would consider the last tone knob boosts mid range which they compare to more of a humbucking type sound. As much as I like humbucking pickups, this EMG DG 20 never looses it's "Strat" sound. No matter how much you turn up the bass/treble boost or the mid range boost, it maintains that Strat sound. This DG20 loaded pickguard from EMG let's me leave extra guitars home.
