Mid quality, with some design deficiencies
These earbuds sound pretty good and fit comfortably. The volume control is also nice. There is one big drawback for me, though, which is that low bass frequencies produce a high frequency ringing in these, so that's actually quite annoying.

This laptop lasted less than a year before becoming unusable
Exactly a year ago, I purchased a new Toshiba Satellite l655-s5117, the model with a dual core intel processor, 4 gb ram etc. It worked fairly well for about 5 months, then turned into an inexplicably laggy sack of crap. We are talking 5-10 second lag times for merely typing a sentence into Word... I scanned the system for malware with AVAST and Malwarebytes, tried defragmentation, driver rollbacks etc., even wiping the hard drive, to no effect. I sent the laptop in to Toshiba to be repaired under warranty in August. They sent it back (5 weeks later), claiming the computer had been restored to factory specs, yet it was still underperforming very badly. I dealt with it for a semester of grad school (it probably cost me an aggregate of 100 hours of sleep due to locking up while I was working on papers etc.), during which time my cheapass backpack came apart while I was riding a bike, and fell with the laptop in it. A sliver of plastic came off the external frame, but the performance, already deplorable, did not get any worse. Finally, I decided to try to send it in before the warranty expired and demand that Toshiba fix this laptop, which they had already failed to do once. However, I heard back that they will not fix the performance issues before the minor physical damage is fixed, and, since they operate under the assumption that internal components were also damaged, that not-under-warranty fix will cost me $325. That's half the total price I paid for this POS computer! I understand Toshiba's policy here to some extent, in terms of assuring the quality of their repairs, but I am lead to believe that the quality of these laptops is very poor. My previous laptop lasted me 5 years with almost no issues.

Good mic, great modding platform
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this mic with the intention of eventually having it modded by Michael Joly of Oktavamod or Dave Thomas of Advanced Audio. So far, I have tried using it stock, replacing the tube with a NOS sylvania 12at7, and have been fairly impressed with its performance on vocals and acoustic guitar. All in all, I'd say this is a really good microphone given its price range, with the potential of being made into any of several absolutely excellent mics with a little more investment in the future.
