Fit SUZUKI JIMNY 1998 Bonnet Hood Gas Strut Lift Support Damper Kit
    Feb 22, 2017
    Jimny Bonnet Struts
I fitted these recently, the manual support is so annoying. Simple to install, but I did a small modification which improves its operation. (My supplied kit was a little different to the one shown here). Been on for a week or two now. The ball bracket in the guard channel, sits in the channel and works well. The ball bracket on the bonnet, held in place with only one fixing, tended to turn and jamb. So after refitting a couple of times, I added another fixing to secure it from rotating around the single fixing. I also put a little more bend in the angle bracks0 as it was more at right angles. The gas strut ball joint retainers seem a little flimsy, but work ok.
Cloyes Gear & Product 9-4201S Timing Chain

    Chain Kit
All the parts required were supplied. The Instructions were available on the Cloyes Youtube website. The only issue I found was the tensioner leaked oil after installation. I had to back off the tensioner a little and apply some sealing goo, which stopped the leak. I suspect the machining of the tensioner was a little inaccurate and a oil channel had been drilled a little too far toward the head of the bolt.
