QED to the rescue.
I bought a long HDMI lead when I moved my AV kit into a new dresser and away from the wall mounted TV. The discrete rear HDMI socket is horizontal. After a month the new lead had bent downward nearly 90 degrees, with the terminal bending out of the casing. This rendered it unusable.
I've had many QED leads over the years. I needed a build quality I could trust to fix my new setup ASAP. I would have preferred a shorter lead, but it was better to route some excess than risk failure with progressively expensive replacements.
The picture and sound are excellent, it never works loose and remains rock solid and intact. Never judge your equipment until It's been connected with good leads. It's the wrong time to cut corners. QED continue to produce excellent leads which present very good value for a long time.

Power where you need it most
Power rails can be hard to locate exactly where they need to be. These clips are a good way to deliver to, or share power between, zones of track.
You need to be able to slot them into a section of the track with a slight gap between rail and 'sleeper', so each terminal meets a rail. This is a bit fiddly, but once done they hold in place fairly well. They seem to work best when held firmly flat, so the power isn't disrupted when an engine goes over.
These can be more easily disguised than a power rail, which helps keep thjngs authentic, or magical, depending on your perspective.

Getting the best from my set
The press terminals on this controller make it easier to get power to multiple zones and two isolated sources allow for some complex cross-overs. The size of the controller and power lead mean it probably has to sit on the outside of the track, unless you are lucky enough to sit in the middle. You can route all your cable under thack, but unlike my previous controllers, I can detache, and reattach this quickly. You don't have to keep it screwed to your board.
I am only too happy to buy second-hand kit, but the variations in the power to the engines was getting frustrating. The performance is as solid as the build and I am far more likely to be able to get it repaired than the cheaper plastic models. I am beginning to appreciate how the versatility and potential of this controller might mean I won.'t need as many as I thought. Being recently returned to the hobby there can be a steep learning curve. Our set's theme limits our rolling stock, space is limited and digital doesn't appeal. I think this will keep us going for some time to come. I really wish I had bought this first. The others were a false economy. It's not a cheap pastime, so it makes no sense to skimp on the heart of your set. This makes the magic happen.
