The Dog's Bits!
Eduard's venerable F-86D 'Sabre Dog' parts for the excellent 1/48 Monogram/Revell USA kit is the usual fare from the Czech Republic company who once, modestly, described their products as 'The Best Brass Around'. Mostly, they were right. This set pre-dates the current pre-coloured, self-adhesive ones and is in my opinion all the better for it. Also, mine is the latest type of Eduard production with the new(ish) brass-coloured brass in lieu of the traditional Eduard 'nmf' coloured frets. It is not as big or expensive as their more recent products, but includes a boarding ladder, various thoughtful embellishments for the interior, canopy and elsewhere plus the inevitable instrument panel 'sandwich', which in this scale is by far the best way to represent this key detail element sharply and accurately. Note that in this case, the dials are printed on white paper rather than acetate film, so will need some 'liquid glazing' for good effect, but at least you wont have to paint the white background yourself. The good news is that there are TWO instrument panels, a 'production' one and the prototype version which AFAIK applies only to one airframe. As usual, foldable oleo links are included but these always seem below scale thickness when installed, and thus a waste of time and energy. Arguably, the target kit doesn't really need much gilding but if you don't mind working with etched brass, this is the way to go a few extra yards with little effort. Thanks to model_hobbies for supplying this quickly and cheaply -both product and supplier are entirely recommended!

Newer Is not necessarily better...
1 of 1 found this helpful Anyone who likes Huns will know the story backwards by now -a fine kit, beautifully engraved and moulded surfaces, plenty of detail...but shape accuracy issues (particularly around the intake) that the Monogram tooling managed to avoid -IN 1980! A bit of effort will make it lots better.

The Go-To for modern Russian ordnance in 1/72!
Advanced Modelling products continue to impress; flawlessly cast quality resin with astonishing detail AND a decal sheet with all the relevant stencils. For the money, the whole package seems excellent value -I have several 1/72 sets to hand now, and seriously recommend them! Now, if ONLY they would produce a BETAb 500 SHP in this scale... :D
