Bittersweet
I have been reading Nevada Barr's Anna Pigeon series for a number of years and thought I would try her book that is not part of the series. I was expecting to not like it but I loved it. It says so much about women of the old west era. How they lived, what that did every day and how when they finished school they were urged to marry because the family couldn't afford to feed and clothe an unproductive member of the family who was no longer a child. The story is about the oldest girl in a family of farmers and her relationship with her female teacher. She is married off to a man old enough to be her father who is quick to believe the worst about her. When he begins to abuse her she runs away to her teacher who has become her best friend. They have to leave town to get away from gossip which is not true about them. They are forced to leave the infant son behind because at that time everything belonged to the man of the house including the children. Eventually their relationship grows closer and they live in the middle of a desert at a stage coach stop where they have to go to even greater lengths to stay together. You will not regret reading this book. I could not put it down.

Great work out and fun
2 of 2 found this helpful This is a workout for anyone. If you have a disability or are just not up to a hard workout on your feet it is perfect. Mary Ann Wilson makes it fun and uses some good music which makes it more enjoyable. I did work up a sweat so don't think you will just be sitting still. I hope to use this to work my way up to a regular exercise routine.
