Works if used properly.
It does work,if used properly. If it is inserted too deep into the fluid, it will give you false readings. Have to be very careful using this tool. No instructions, so found this out by trial and error.

Unsure reliability
It's oem product. The original remote went out 5 yrs of very light use. Maybe 3 times a month of usage. Receiver went out 2 1/2 yrs , fortunately under warranty. Not sure if I'll buy an Onkyo profuct every again.
