Soled my problem!
It’s not always easy to get the exact part you needs d for a 19 year old Jaguar, so it was great to find just what I needed. It was highly likely but not certain that a new (used) Security Locking and Control Module has would solve the multiple problems I was experiencing. So I was delighted to reserve the unit quickly and for it to solve things when I plugged it in!

Nuvi 660/670 - great GPS
7 of 7 found this helpful I've added the Nuvi 670 into the title as this is very similar to the 660 and what actually arrived (although I thought I was only buying the 660!
We have two vehicles with built in GPS units but unfortunately both are now several years old and there's no cost effective way to update their map data, very frustrating! We've got a third vehicle we use a lot and have been using the GPS on my Phone/PDA. While that is very good the screen is really too small to use safely while driving. So after quite a lot of research I went for the Nuvi 660.
I travel frequently on business and pleasure in both the US and Europe. I wanted a unit small enough to carry and something that could also act as a hands free unit for my cell phone, ideally with an FM transmitter so I could use the car audio not just the internal speaker. The Nuvi 660/670 has all of these features.
Route finding is very straight forward, although it would be great to be able to just enter a street address and zip code without the town or city as I've found several instances where the Nuvi city and someones published postal address are different. The screen is very bright and easy to read and the voice directions very clear, I'm using the British accent at the moment - reminds me of home!
The internal speaker is very loud when on maximum volume and so the FM transmitter to the car audio isn't really necessary for hands free cell phone calls. However, the Nuvi also acts as an MP3 player, so with a $14.99 4GB SD card added I can now play also play a huge catalogue of music on it and that's where the FM transmitter really is beneficial.
The unit came with an FM receiver (built into the cigar lighter charger plug) and one months free traffic broadcasts. I've really not taken advantage of this yet so I can't report on its usefullness or accuracy.
Finding stores, restaurants, gas stations etc is very easy and having phone numbers as well as addresses has been very helpful. However I'm a little disappointed that there isn't an update available at the moment for either the maps or Points of Interest. A local Applebees that has been open about 12 months isn't listed nor the Philadelphia Premium Outlet Mall (neither the address nor POI worked) and it opened in Nov 2007.
Finally though I'll finish on the best news. As I mentioned I travel in Europe a lot and was planning to buy the Europe maps (about $90) - well the great thing about having received the 670 when I thought I was buying the 660 is that the 670 comes with a full set of European maps! What a great buy new on ebay for $186 including shipping!
