Efficient and Silent Power Supply
2 of 2 found this helpful Because the PS has such a large fan, it is capable of not only cooling itself, but also the internals of case it's in. The fan seems to respond/regulate its speed not only to its own internal heat build up, but also to the power it supplies to the motherboard/CPU etc. This effectively eliminates the need for an internal chassis fan or fans. In my case, I could do away with 2 noisy chassis fans. Even when under a combined 100% CPU and 100% GPU load, the noise level barely increased and sounded more like a hum/low frequency noise rather than the annoying sound of a small fan running at high speed. I should note here, that I have my CPU cooled by a large fan assisted heat sink which is almost totally silent, so it doesn't come into play. CPU is Pentium i7 running at 3600MHz.

Short Battery Life - but see Edit below for reason - trap for young players.
1 of 1 found this helpful The 5S is a big step up from the 4S, but battery life is disappointing. I run out of steam (less than 20%)for the day after just two 10 min phone calls and half hour use of Google Maps (GPS enabled) at max brightness. The 4S would only be at 50% bat life for the same usage.
Big boon is the fingerprint feature - no more PIN to enter every time - just hold the Home button down for half a second longer. Apps too can be set to use biometrics log-ins only - again so much easier punching in PINs.
As far a further level of security - after 3 unsuccessful attempts at using your finger you need to put in your 6 digit PIN. After you've done that, it's back to finger only again.
Edit: Even though I simply copied the backup from the old 4S, it would appear that once loaded onto the 5S, the defaults to use GPS in the background, even though the Apps are not loaded, were turned ON. Resetting these to only access GPS when loaded, made a huge difference in battery life - it's now back to the 4S's.

The good price is what made me upgrade from a 5S model
What else can you say about an iPhone. It does what is says on the tin. What made me upgrade from my 5S was the good price, now that it's no longer Apple's flag ship mobile. The 64GB 6S model cost me AUD $626 - no way a 7 with it's minimal additional features can compete wrt value for money. Unfortunately, Apple Stores still sell them at a premium price, so look on eBay for much better pricing.
