New MOTU MICRO LITE MIDI USB Powered 5x5 Interface
Oct 17, 2017
Simple to set set. Works as designed. Nice 1/2 Shelf unit.
I purchase the Micro Lite as it was one of the MOTU units that is still supported up through OSX Sierra, and I hope beyond. I have all 5 midi out ports in use, and it works like charm. It was properly recognized by Audio MIDI Setup, and I was able to connect my legacy rack mount synths and get them working in Logic ProX. i would definitely but it again, and I just might do that to add 5 more ports.
Apricorn Velocity Duo SSD Upgrade Kit and Disc Array for PC and Mac (VEL-DUO)
Nov 05, 2017
Stupid easy to use! Works to perfection!
I had never set up a RAID array before. Part of the ease of use of the Apricorn clearly goes to Applle, but that said, Apricorn does nothing to get in the way. I already had an SSD drive in my Mac Pro, but I was running out of space, and needed to add more room. My son suggested a RAID array. After shopping my options, I found this used Velocity Duo for $99. Here's how simple it was: 1. I fist backed=up the existing SSD Startup drive to a spinning drive .2. Then I got an identical SDD, 3.The drives mount easily to the Apricorn with 4 screws each, although they are not moving, so this is probably overkill . 4. I installed the Apricorn in the slot where the Single SSD used to be. At boot up, both drives were visible and mounted. 5. I used Disk Utility to erase both SSDs, then used Disk Utility's RAID Assistant to make the two SSDs into a RAID 0 array. 6. After that, I opened SuperDuper and copied the Back-up drive to the new array, letting it run overnight. n the mroning, 7. I set the Start-up disc to be the new Raid array, restarted, and I was back in productive business. Easy-peasy.
Micron ( Crucial ) M600 1TB SSD Solid State Drive 2.5 MTFDDAK1T0MBF SATA III 6.0

Performance great, set up difficult
Now that this drive is in my MacPro, it's running great. Performance-wise iits a 10. I'm getting nearly 500mps read and write per BlackMagic. Formatting the disk for setup took a couple tries with DiscTool, but it finally went. Then came the frustrating part. Using SuperDuper to copy my existing Hard Drive, I was getting constant fails. But, I noticed, the fails always came at a different place, farther along in the process. It was as if SuperDuper and the spinning drive could not keep supplying data quickly enough. I just had to keep restarting the SuperDuper copy, and eventually, over 2 days, I did get the HD copied. Since then, running the Crucial on a PCIe card, I have had zero issues with it.
