Sweet and Low by Rich Cohen (audible book on CD)
An ingrossing story of the Brooklyn family that devised the sugar subsitute "Sweet and Low". Attempts to keep the company viable in the wake of government bans of saccharin and cyclamates, result in corporate corruption and mobster influence. Rich Cohen is a talented story teller whose other book was "Tough Jews" He weaves an intriguing tale of the American success story with a bitter-sweet ending.

The Kid from Brooklyn
Danny Kaye excellent, songs by Sylvia Fine, Vera Ellen before she became anorexic, This movie is a remake of The Milky Way (1936) with Harold Lloyd, The Kid from Brooklyn is much better, technically (its in color, Milky Way is black and white) Harold Lloyd is not that funny, alas.
