Sony XM5 vs. XM3

I have enjoyed Sony WF-1000XM3 for several years so looked forward to upgrading to the XM5 which has not been an easy process. Out of the box the XM5's provided no noise canceling at all and it took a couple of days of trying different settings and 2 hard resets to enable the feature which, at this moment, is less effective than ANC on the XM3. Consequently, I am installing new batteries in the XM3 and will use the XM5 for phone calls only. Hopefully someone has a better experience than me but I don't know how.
