A surprising gem

Buying this game was a gamble for me; watching the online trailers and game play, I didn't really get a feel for what the game was going to be like. The reviews online are almost always good, but generally given by people that have played the first game so I was in the dark about what to expect. I can only say, what a surprising (not so) little gem. The mechanics are swift and responsive, and though not up to the same standards as Devil May Cry or Bayonetta, make you feel like to can take on anything the game has to offer. The story is compelling, managing to get me hooked within the first half hour of playing. The graphics are strong, even though they do sometimes struggle to keep the frame rate up at all times. The best thing about this game though is how unique it feels to play. There aspects of the game, which I can't highlight without ruining the story, that you will find nowhere else. Some work well, some don't. There are a few that are truly brilliant. All in all, I am glad I got hold of a copy. Now, time to start the second play through...
