Wild Hearts Can't be Broken
Set in the Great Depression, after their parents' deaths, Sonora and her younger sister are sent to live with an aunt. Sonora's stubborn nature and pride get her into enough trouble that her aunt decides that she can't handle the responsibility of raising her any longer and plans to give custody of her niece to the state. Sonora runs away and finds Dr. Carver and his diving horse show that she read about in the paper, determined to join the show and, one day, be a diving girl, herself. Based on a true story. I loved this movie as a kid and I still love it as an adult. Definitely one of Disney's better movies.
