Saints Row is still an excellent game despite its age. You should try it.
I bought Saints Row because I had played it in the past and I really liked it. It's an older game but it has good graphics for its time a reasonable story line. It's about a gang called the Third Street Saints who are trying to take back their city, so there is tons of action. Saints Row is a sandbox non-linear game with three story arcs and it all ends in a epilogue in which the player must free their leader from prison.
It's the first game in a series of three games so far, the others being Saints Row II and Saints Row The Third.
Because its non-linear, it means that the player can do missions at any time and unlike the GTA series, every part of the City is unlocked at the start of the game. This gives the game variety as the player has the whole city to explore at the start of the game instead of just one part.
I don't like that fact that the multi-player is unplayable because no-one plays this game on-line any more.
Saints Row is not as good as Grand Theft Auto San Andreas which was the game it was competing with, but it is still a good game and a worthy contribution to the open world sandbox crime simulators.
Saints Row compared to its sequels is a more serious dow-to-earthish game than its successors, because Saints Row II was somewhat over the top with its action sequences and a little over the top with its storylines, but Saints Row The Third goes beyond ridiculous with its storylines, its game play, its actions, its vehicles, weapons and if you are looking for an over-the-top fun game, Saints Row The Third is probably the best choice right now.
Saints Row is one of the best open world games I have played outside of Grand Theft Auto. I forgot to mention the character customisation that Grand Theft Auto does not have. In the Saints Row series, the protagonist's background and appearance is never stated, so it is up to the player to make their own decision about him. It's easy for the player to project their own personality onto the protagonist as he only talks during key moments of the story - four lines, I think. Saints Row also has a very intersting sound track, as most of the bands, artists, and singers are rarely heard today. There is also a lot of variety in the soundtrack as it has indie rock, alternative rock, classic rock from the late 80s and early 90s, hip hop, R&B, easy listening, dance and techno, and they have Rastafarian music. There is also a talk radio station if you are into that sort of thing in a game.
As far as the weaponry goes, there is only 4 melee weapons, but in this game that is sufficient. There are 5 pistols, one unlockable Gold Desert Eagle, 6 shotguns - two of them unlockable - two assault rifles, one an AK47 and the other an M4. The snipe rifle has a glitch that comes with owning it and that is, the player cannot have a sniper rifle and an assault rifle in your inventory at the same time, which I thought was wierd. In addition to all these weapons, there are two rocket launchers, one of which is unlockable, and there is an assortment of throwable weapons such as grenades and molotovs.
All in all, Saints Row is still an exceptional game despite its age and if you like the open world crime genre, than this game is a must have.

Easy to use puzzle mat keeps everything together
It is so easy now to roll up a half completed puzzle and pack it away for a later date without having the pieces go everywhere.
