Borodin and Tchaikovsky CD
I bought this CD for use as a rehearsal aid. A summer chorus to which I belong sang both of these pieces this summer (July 2008). It helped both in reviewing notes for my part and in giving an overall perspective to both pieces. The only thing that disappointed me was that the chorus on the recording did not sing all of the vocal parts they could have. However, the recording was complete as to music and of great quality.

Standard catalog of Lionel trains 1970-2000
A serious Lionel hobbyist needs a comprehensive historical guide to the Company's products. David Doyle's series of books is among the best on the market. The set includes guides for the years 1900-1942, 1945-1969, and this one. (Note that Lionel made no toys as such in 1943-44 because of WWII.) The best feature of these books is the profuse photos of locomotives, rolling stock, accessories, and other items alongside the descriptions and market values. The books make up a kind of pictorial history of Lionel trains. They're great for checking on the scarcity and estimated price of an item before bidding on eBay or shopping at a train show, as well as having fun browsing. Whether one obtains a copy from a local bookstore or at a discount online, this book and others like it make worthwhile purchases for a personal reference library.
