Black Light, a departure from the norm for GA?
Quite different from previous offerings. Purchased after watching their Glastonbury performance and not dissappointed.

Nikon D300, rewards patience
1 of 1 found this helpful Having previously owned a Nikon D50 I was initially dissapointed in the 'out of camera' jpeg images, which appeared much softer than the ones I'd been used to. However, some patient reading of the manual, and discussions with other users, made me realise that the D300 output was designed to be like that. Unlike the D50, a consumer grade DSLR, the D300 gives you greater accuracy and potential for post processing. If you really want sharper jpeg files the D300 caters for this with adjustments to key file properties.
One word of warning, this camera is heavy! Compared to the D50 it's a positive heavyweight and as the D50 is itself heavier than the D40/60 it may put off some potential buyers.
I'll probably still be discovering features in 12 onths time, there's just so much the D300 can do.

Minolta X-300, ideal low cost 35mm SLR
1 of 2 found this helpful The Minolta X-300 is a simple aperture priority/manual 35mm SLR that utilises Minolta's proven range of MD fit Rokkor lenses. An ideal starter camera for those brought up on digital point and shoot. Minolta's lenses are renowned for their performance and have the added bonus that, with suitable adaptors, which are widely available on e-bay, can be fitted to both Sony/Minolta and Canon Digital SLRs. For example, the 50mm f1.2 is a cult lens and now widely sought after for digital use.
