It does the job of a booster seat regardless of your seat style.
I couldn't use the type of car booster seat that has straps wrapping around the headrest, so this was the next best thing. It works great. I use a tether attached to the seatbelt rather than the d-rings on the seat--safer, I think. My dog sits in it and doesn't try to jump out. I got the "medium" size for my small dog of 11 lbs. He takes up the whole thing, so I think a smaller one would have been cramped. The cover is washable, but I think it will be a job to re-attached afterwards! As to value, I got the best price going but I would not have paid more.

Awesome machine!
I haven't used the embroidery option yet but the sewing machine is awesome. I am delighted with its many features and ease of use. For example, it feeds thick fabric easily without a walking foot! I love it.
