1 of 1 found this helpful Not an upbeat subject, but the author's finesse in telling this story drew me in completely. Despite the despicable treatment the prisoners experienced, the sense of love and humanity came through very clearly. Lale Sokolov was a remarkable man: smart, brave, and strong, yet soft enough to fall completely in (everlasting) love during the harshest of times.
