Persuasion - Paperback By Austen, Jane - VERY GOOD

    FAINT, TINY, ALMOST UNREADBLE FONT
I suspect this bare-bones 6" x 9" paperback edition (just text of the short novel, 99 pages, not even a title page, no publication info, no intro, noting else) is actually brand new; it is stiff and clean. However the font size may be tiniest I am capable of seeing (I'm guessing 6 point?!) without magnification. The print is also quite faint, so hard to read on that score too. Disappointing that it is so hard to enjoy, even at such a reasonable cost.

    ENTERTAINING IF YOU LIKE HISTORY
A VERY general history of house usage. Brief "chapters" are short summaries of how room definitions and developments have changed, with accompanying social history and amusing anecdotes along the way. For general readership rather than scholars.

SHORT BUT PROFOUND AND SUPERBLY RESEARCHED
Indeed "grim", this sturdy primarily focuses on the institutionalization of slavery (both Native American and African) in South Carolina. All Americans should be aware that the cornerstone of the Southern economy was a conscious choice based on GREED by the early settlers, and as we know, had a profound effect on the history of the Nation. Solid, compelling scholarship.
