    Pagan pageantry in tight trousers!
Like many people, I have fond memories of this series from first time around and have just replaced my VHS version on DVD. Watching it now, I am finding Michael Praed as Robin just as gorgeous as ever. The production goes clunk from time to time, but the drama holds up really well, especially compared to the wimpy current TV adaptation. I am also amazed at the amount of pagan philosophy and symbolism that totally passed me by at the time. You have to love the wonderfully camp evil Sherrif of Nottingham, played by Nikolas Grace though Guy of Gisburne (Robert Addie)always struck me as a bewildered public schoolboy who has unwittingly strayed from 1980s Eton into the 12th century (in that respect, the current BBC incumbent, played by Richard Armitage, wins hands-down!). If you love swashbuckling and men in sexy tight trousers (not tights, thanks heaven)and leather, buy this - and soon!
