1984 DVD George Orwell Dystopian Sci-Fi Movie Classic w John Hurt Richard Burton

Anyone who hasn't seen this movie or read the book that inspired it should definitely do so! As you read the novel or watch the movie, you will see many things that are familiar to our modern world even though the novel was written just after WWII. Orwell predicted many of the things that would happen decades later, including "telescreens" (modern day flat screens that can project and record), the destruction of language (examples: abbreviations used by many with cell phones and news articles written by supposed professionals who can't spell or use correct subject-verb agreement), the rewriting of history (heroes become villains, "facts" are changed to fit the popular narrative), and one party governments (China is already there and the US is on the way). When I read it in high school it was an interesting "horror novel" that gave an important warning; now the book is not just a warning, but a prediction that is starting to come true. I dare you to read/watch it and hope that you can say that I am wrong.
