Marvellous low-light portrait film.
I've been a fan of Portra 160 and 400, in it's NC and VC versions, for years but I've never had the need for the extra speed until now. I am shooting more and more portraits indoor without flash than ever lately though, so I decided to give this film a go. The extra stop (over 400) may not sound much but it really can make a vital difference. The most important thing though, and where Portra excels, is in the skin tones. All the lovely Portra subtlety shown by the slower films is very much here - maybe even more so at certain enlargements as the grain softens a print. Excellent stuff.

Very happy with this product.
I found this protector very easy to fit. Bubbles are present after the initial application but, true to the documentation, these disappear within 24 hours. I strongly recommend this product.

Potentially great, let down by film holders.
1 of 1 found this helpful This is the third model of scanner I've owned. The previous two were also Epson scanners so I had faith in the name alone. In terms of resolution, DMax, and speed it is excellent. The Digital ICE film cleaning works a treat too, on colour film. However, ICE doesn't work with true black and white film such as Ilford FP4+, Kodak T-Max etc. In order to get clean scans from these films all dust must be removed from the light path between the LED and the TPU. This is where the V800 fails badly. To help keep the film flat, the film holders are fitted with ANR material made not from glass but perspex - no matter how much I tried, using blowers, compressed air, anti-static brushes, I found it impossible to remove the dust from the perspex. Third-party solutions are available, but this scanner costs enough as it is. It is beyond me why Epson have fitted the film holders with perspex inserts, because they make the scanning of film other than colour or chromogenic black and white (Ilford XP2, for instance) un-workable.
