Plastic - good for measuring on batteries and in electrical invironment, else choose metal
2 of 2 found this helpful I only gave 3 stars because accuracy is limited with only 1 digit after the mm decimal point.
I knew that, but bought it just for measuring on electric batteries and plast (not carbon fiber, just plain plastic) would not make any shortcuts.
Good clear display and finish is ok.
For precision measurements I use my full 5 digit Mitotoyo vernier.

Sensitive and practical wall scanner.
A good, sensitive multi function instrument. Finds cables, metal, wood.
I had to get used to the fact that there is 3 buttons on it; ON and MODE on top, logical, mut it would not measure anything until you press the TEST button on the left side - this is different from my previous tester.

Good no. 2 vernier caliper for electric environment.
A plastic vernier caliper (not carbon fibre) - good if you work in electric environment, but only 1 digit after the decimal point. (i.e. 17.8 mm).
A suplement to measure on electric batteries - for normal use I prefer a more precise and rugged metal vernier caliper.
