Look Elsewhere for a NAS
1 of 2 found this helpful Terrible. Sent it back. Don’t confuse this product with the WD My Cloud (not Home).

A true classic
There isn't a bad track on the album.
Superb production.
It has to be part of everyone's collection.

Good, but has its flaws.
The 8300CDQ is certainly well built. I have it connected to an 8300A and wanted to use the pre-power amp feature on the amplifier with the CDQ as a pre-amp. Unfortunately, when the CDQ is connected to the power-amp input on the 8300A is causes loud hissing through the speakers. With the CDQ connected to the XLR inputs, as a standard CD player, it is silent. (by the way, connecting via XLR cables has improved the sound considerably over the RCA I was using). There is no Power-Amp input on the 8300A other than RCA.
The DAC filters are useful, as some CDs or streams from my Node 2i, have different production qualities and the filters can "take the edge off" harsh recordings.
There are also known issues with the remote control operation when used with other Audiolab equipment. i.e. the remote operates both devices at the same time regardless of the mode switch. This can be fixed by a firmware upgrade (to V4 on the CDQ) but has to be sent back to Audiolab for this.
