I am an engineer with a long career. My Fluke 87 served me for 30 years and in excellent shape until it was stolen.
I also loved my HP45 with its dual display and blue visible Vacuum florescent display. Again it does not match the ability of this Bluetooth meter. I may be able to have the display color of my choice any way.
Over the past 5 years I have started and studied external test equipment for Iphone or Android. I planned to build my own meter but this year I found several meters with excellent properties. This multi meter concept is what cost many professionals and companies to buy expensive equipment or have two persons on site for troubleshooting.
With this type of meter you can hook it up to a plug or any power in home or business. Then you can go to a breaker box and find the breaker for each item in a location. If you have changes to the system and mislabeled items this is powerful. Climb in to the attic and attache the meter go to problem switch or circuit and detect what is connected.
The accuracy level allows engineering test bench capability for micro circuits and analog power measurements for modern systems operating in Micro amps and millivolts of signal.
The ability to use multiple meters and two channel measurements of current and voltage again Trump all other meters before this.
The meter is very small and solid unit. Servicing of plugs or battery install is easily visible. dirt , flaky rotary switches or dim display need never be in your way again. your pc, ipad, iphone all can view the meter in real time. High visibility and storage of results for analysis. All this for under $200 bucks.
The method of starting the meter is a bit clumsy as you have to plug in probes and short them to start the meter. Turning it off is unclear. long term storage of events adn timing of event samples is something I will work to use in the next month.
It is a goo items to use and if you lose it not such a big loss.
