Hey, they collect dirt
You stick it into the vacuum cleaner, and they hold all the dirt sucked up. When they are full, you open the vacuum cleaner and toss it out & load a new one. Wow! What will they think of next? These were priced relatively well, and seem to do the job

Inexpensive & flexible for occasional user
3 of 3 found this helpful This Chinese manufactured machine is marketed by several US distributors at various prices. It's a great little machine for the price with several good features and a few limitations. It's a cube measuring at about 6" length, width & depth, so it fits nicely on a desk top with a usb connection to a computer and an electrical outlet. It comes with an English manual, and the Chinese translation is reasonable. The blue topped machine has 2000 mw power, which is more power than the black topped other machines of identical styling.
The software for the setup and operating program is provided on a 4 gb usb flash drive. I copied the contents to my C: drive and a backup drive, and cleared the flash drive for other things. The setup went smoothly - the program for graphics is integrated with that for the machine operation --it does take a bit of fussing around for those few features not completely intuitive --- if you are patient and enjoy discovery, it will work well for you. The green plastic in front permits seeing the engraving work without glasses, however I plan to get glasses anyway -- the laser light is not something you want t look at with a sure risk of eye damage- blue light does come from the sides so better safe than sorry. As a further precaution, I ended up completely blocking the front while it's operating - no need to view anything after starting to engrave.
Remember, this is an inexpensive entry level machine, so don't expect deep and fast cuts or engraving. A 2" wood coin with a design can take from 20 minutes to an hour depending upon the depth of engraving you choose and the complexity of design. This is not meant for volume production --- merely to give an engraving capability to an occasional user. While the built-in fan helps clear the smoke from burned wood, I got a tiny desk fan to put on one side to blow smoke away from my work-space. Compared to other entry level machines, I chose this for its 2000mw power, its 3" x 3' work area, as well as for it's open bottom, which means you could place it on a large workpiece and engrave sections of a larger design. I haven't done this yet, but I could envision putting a logo, name or other design on a guitar, table top or other large piece of wood, which would be impossible with a closed bottom machine.

A Classic
2 of 3 found this helpful There are some movies well worth watching over and over. This is one of them. Perfect for a rainy or snowy weekend afternoon & evening -- best with pizza or similar snacks. It isn't ruined by knowing the ending--- like opera, it's the unfolding which counts. Like Casablanca and other classics, it's a movie which is great to see again and again every few years or so.
