2 nd purchase, own collar, harness and leash
Old one is still good. I replaced the collar and harness. The old lease is still fine. Has lasted for years and I trust the plastic buckle. They barely faded from the sun. I couldn't tell until I got the new ones. Heavy duty hardware. New ring is even heavier duty than the last one. The last rings bent but are still very much intact and trustworthy. It is because she is on a runner and runs to the very end so fast that it jerks her back. Any other metal hook would have come off long ago. The only reason I replaced it is because my dog had shredded the orange tape by scratching. I kept cutting off the ragged ribbon, but she was started to look like a ragged pup. I could easily remove the torn ribbon and keep using it and there is a lot of ribbon with the underside part that doesn't show to use as replacement material. But, I am too lazy. It is in perfect condition after years. No damage to the edges on the brown base collar or harness. Even though she scratched a lot. But, she is a small chocolate lab. It is in perfect condition except for the ribbon. The collar would be brown and I want to make her as visible as possible. It is highly reflective at night too. Sometimes, I can't see anything but the collar because she blends in so well on the sofa. My benchmark on things in life is " would you do it again". Yes, I did. Her neck is 15" and she could slip out of the collar if I pulled her from the front. Her chest is 24-25" and she can pull out of it if I pull her from the front. Instead, I pull her from the side a little bit at the time. When she runs on the tie out and pulls when I walk her there is no way she can slip out. I bought the large collar and harness because I wanted it to be as wide as possible (1" wide) but I don't use it to attach her leash to it, just for an extra set of ID tags even though she is chipped, as an emergency evacuation collar because we take her harness off at night for comfort and increased visibility The way it is made, the collar and harness could easily be adjusted by undoing the seam, cutting the length and sewing it by hand (or machine). I also, had stitched the slider that sits on the breast plate to stabilize it. The adjustment clips stay in place and the harness has not stretched after years of use. She is on a runner outside and the collar could hang her. I use the harness for that. The manufacturer said on their web site that they make custom products but it takes a longer lead time. I contacted the Sassy company directly about getting a custom 1" wide smaller collar and harness several times. They never responded to me.
