Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro. Not the only player in town..
I don't believe that Canon is the only game in town for Macro lenses. I have used the 100mm f2.8 Macro as well as the Sigma 105mm f2.8 and the Sigma 150mm f2.8. Out of the three lenses the Sigma 150 f2.8 is superior. The canon is sharp but the Sigma 150 has an edge and with my Canon 5D it has less vignetting around the edges of the pictures corners.
Now if Canon bought a "L" version of this lens to market I know that it would be a different story.

Brought a old turntable to life
The Goldring E3 replaces a Grado M1+ cartridge on my Denon DP-62L turntable. Very different from.the Grado M1+. The Goldring E3 is very bright with vocals, acoustic guitar etc. Where the Grado was a lot darker and more lower end predominant. Very clean highs, mids are decent not as good as you would get with a Ortofon 2m Blue but there is a significant price difference between the two. The Goldring E3 is very sensitive like the Ortofon cartridges and you you will here little imperfections in the vinyl like you would with the Ortofon. The Grado M1+ not so much.
To conclude, for the price you can buy a Goldring E3 I would jump on it for any sub five hundred dollar turntable. I prefer the Goldring E3 over the Ortofon 2m Red.
